Alice broke into an incredulous half smile at Frank’s obvious surprise. “Yes you,” she laughed, rolling her eyes and wrapping her arms impossibly tighter around him. “Who else makes me feel like this? Like I’m the most special, delicate, perfect thing in the world?” she asked softly, blushing as she admitted just as much.

His heavy breaths fell against her shoulder, in and out, in and out. The pace and warmth calming her restlessness, his adorably soft words murmured against her skin and she nodded. She understood. “It’s a little scary.” she finished for him, her voice growing clearer. “It’s like no matter what happens, as long as we can be together, it’s all going to be okay, and we’ll be happy. And Frank, that scares me more than anything.” she closed her eyes, pressing her lips to his curly head, resting her cheek against him a moment, just thinking.

Frank stopped, studying Alice’s face, before his brow furrowed slightly and he said, “But you are all of those things. How could you not know?” Frank lifted a hand that was ghosting up and down Alice’s spine to cup her face, rubbing the skin on her cheekbone. He shook his head and smiled softly, “You are. The most amazing person I’ve ever met.” His eyes met hers and he sighed, “You are just so beautiful- inside and out- it just blows my mind that you’d even look twice at me. You have the kindest soul… You should be treated like you’re precious, delicate and perfect because you are all of that and more.”

It was nothing short of terrifying, feeling this way for her. Frank was one to keep most of his emotions in check- never really having a reason for any other intense emotion other than happiness. But this- this thing with Alice- this felt like he had been laid open for all the world to see. Everything else paled in comparison to how he felt about her. Her lips in his hair and the comforting weight of her against him brought a sigh from his lips. His lips grazed her cheek and he nuzzled the side of her face before murmuring in her ear, “I’m not going anywhere, love. As long as you want me, I’ll stay right here.”

They sat like that a while, Franks words washing over her, a foreign concept to her mind. No girl is born believing in her own beauty, she supposed, it’s something pinned upon them by others. Human nature. The will to live in pairs, to be together the ultimate motivation. Allowing herself to digest his tone, his words, his meaning, Alice knew in her heart that he believed them, and regardless of whether she did or not, she knew things had changed for her now, she was worthwhile, worthwhile in eyes not belonging to her mother or father.

The happiness swelled inside her, overwhelming as usual when he was around and as he shifted on the bed, his warm breath against her cheek she let herself slip, the seriousness of their conversation falter as she giggled softly under her breath, “so never then” she said, eyes already closed as she cupped his face and pulled him towards her again, kissing, or more likely crushing, his lips as she tried to wipe the smile from her face. She couldn’t, but more importantly, she knew he wouldn’t care.

His hand tilted her chin upwards and Alice knew what was coming, smiling as she drew into him, kissing him back with that same vigour that was unparalleled to anything she’d felt before. The same familiar security engulfed her as he wrapped his arms around her and she allowed herself to fall into him, their bodies pressing against each other, goosebumps spreading across her exposed skin.

He leant his forehead against hers in her favourite fashion and Alice’s eyes remained on his, displaying her every emotion: fear, elation, happiness, confusion, the unexpected. Her breath hitched as he said those words- had he actually said them?- and she took a moment to absorb them, blinking slowly before gathering her thoughts, he loves me. He loves me. Shit. She thought, letting the mysterious words fall from her own lips, knowing she believed them with her whole heart, wondering why she’d never said them before: “I’m in love with you, too.”

When Alice leaned into the kiss, Frank couldn’t keep from pulling her tighter against him. He loved the feeling of her skin on his; she belonged in that spot, so tightly against him. With her that close, he could keep her safe- and gods, more than anything Frank wanted to keep Alice safe. He smiled against her lips, his fingers brushing the goosebumps that popped up on the soft skin on her arm and his body responded very much the same way- the small bumps raising up and down his arms and back. It was amazing the effect she had on him.

Alice was quiet for a brief moment and Frank felt fear grip him. What if she didn’t feel the same? Frank wasn’t sure he could handle rejection from Alice. The peaceful look on his face fell for a brief moment and was taken over by sheer panic. But then the sweetest sound came from Alice and the words filled his ears and Frank couldn’t stop the wide grin that took over his face. “What- really?” he looked down, still grinning widely, “Why would you want to go and fall in love with me for? I’m nothing special.” Frank’s gaze lifted and he smiled warmly at Alice, “Not like you.”

His arms wrapped tighter around her and he buried his face in her shoulder. The words were out there and there was no taking them back even if Frank had wanted to. Alice loved him. Frank had never had anyone love him before. Sure, his family and Cas- but Alice loved him. The enormity of the word  and all that it held was almost too much for Frank. He inhaled the soft smell of her and sighed, “I’ve never done this before.” He lifted his head to meet her gaze, “Loved someone. Not like this. It-” It scares me how much I care about you.

Alice broke into an incredulous half smile at Frank’s obvious surprise. “Yes you,” she laughed, rolling her eyes and wrapping her arms impossibly tighter around him. “Who else makes me feel like this? Franks arms pulled Alice close and she knew they’d made the right decision, and my god, it felt so, so perfect to be lying here, in her boyfriends bed, in her boyfriends arms. Fluttering her fingers along the curve of his side, Alice closed her eyes, listening instead to the beat of his heart as he kissed her hair, making her feel like the most delicate of things.

Crinkling her nose as he pulled away she shifted her head, leaning her chin against his chest to face her head towards him, smiling lazily. The moment lingered and Alice felt completely and totally at peace. Somehow, the fact that they hadn’t, you know, done it, she thought, blushing slightly, made it all the more special: he was in this for the long haul, a thought that both frightened Alice, and put her at ease. Life would be happy at least, with this boy beside her.

Pulled out of her revire by Franks quiet but oh-so-frank mumble, she stared up into his deep dark eyes a moment before even considering replying. “Thinking? Everything,” she said, shaking her head, even that word couldn’t quite everything she was “thinking” up, reaching her arm up to linger in his hair, alice continued: “I’m thinking that you’re quite possibly the greatest boyfriend in the world, not that i have anything to compare you to,” she joked, yet maintained the seriousness of her statement, “I’m thinking how I probably never want to get up from this bed, how I would be quite happy to stay with you. I’m thinking how fast this year is flying by, how uncertain everything is soon to be, how through all that, there’s only one thought that’s staying with me. I want you Frank.” she finished simply, not allowing the familiar blush to creep her cheeks today, “I want you now, I want you for a long, long time to come. Come and stay with me, in the summer? I wanna wake up with you. I want to start and end every day with you. I don’t know what to do without you.” she finished, dropping her eyes from his, if it was rejection she was going to receive, she didn’t want to see it there, in those eyes she loved- yes, loved- so much.

Alice’s wide doe eyes stared into his and a smile tilted the corner of his mouth, “Everything? That’s quite a bit to be thinking about.” His thumb rubbed the soft skin of her shoulder and he lifted his head, planting a kiss there. Her hand moved to his hair and Frank’s eyes slid shut, his head tilting into the gentle touch. It was amazing how soft Alice’s touch was. Not her skin- although that was plenty soft- but the actual touch was gentle and welcoming. He opened his eyes, letting his gaze wander over Alice’s features. She was so beautiful. It was amazing that someone so beautiful –inside and out- was in his bed. But here she was. And gods, he didn’t want her to ever leave. A soft chuckle rumbled from his chest, “Well, I like that you have no one to compare me to. It makes me feel secure in my masculinity.” His hand continued trailing up and down her back, stopping at the slight dip in her lower back and rising up to circle her shoulder. He nodded in agreement; everything was about to become uncertain. With the rise in murders that popped up in the Prophet nearly every day, threats against the Ministry and just the overwhelming sense of panic that seemed to pervade the Wizarding world, nothing seemed to be a guarantee. Except her, Frank thought, Except us. Alice’s words brought a look of shock on Frank’s face even though deep down, he knew this was coming- he had thought the same things. But it was the boldness- the matter of fact way Alice stated it. She wanted him. She picked him and just knowing that he was good enough for her made him feel powerful- like he could take on the hordes of Voldemort on his own. And win.

Frank had to remind himself to breathe after Alice stopped speaking. Her gaze left his and for a moment, Alice looked small. He moved to tilt her chin upwards, wanting to look in those big, beautiful eyes. Everything he needed to know was in her eyes; one of the beautiful things about Alice was how her expression was written plainly across her eyes. His arms wrapped tightly around her and he pulled her up against his chest, his lips finding hers. He poured everything in him in that kiss. He broke the kiss, pressing his forehead against hers with a soft sigh. His heart swelled with affection for this girl and the words left his mouth smoothly as if they were the most natural words in the world, “I love you.”

Frank felt Alice tremble and a satisfied smirk lifted the corners of his mouth, quickly swept away by the fierce tugging at his hair. Lips and teeth crashed against each other, each of them eager to kiss every last bit of the other. Frank was surprised yet again at how strong Alice could be when she set her mind to it and found himself on his back before he could even protest, his eyes flying open wide in surprise. Her words brought an unexpected laugh from his lips, “Oh, really? You’re ready?”

Frank’s eyes swept up and down Alice’s perfect body, taking in every last curve, random freckle and the occasional silvery scar. She was beautiful, completely perfect… could he really take this from her? He reached up, large hands cupping her face and he gently pulled her down to his chest. He leaned up, placing a tender kiss on her lips. “Alice, I-” he sighed and leaned his forehead against hers, “I want to do this right. I don’t want to rush this. I… I really care about you…,” I want this to be perfect for you- to be right… ”I want you to be sure. And-and I want to be sure too.”

Alice smiled, slowing her frantic pace as he pulled her into him. “I know” she said softly, kissing him on his impossibly perfect lips. She’d probably always known it wouldn’t happen today, if she actually stopped to think about it. “You’re an absolute gentlemen, Frankie Longbottom” she teased, placing another kiss to his shoulder. Laying down beside him and wriggling her arms around him, resting her head on his chest she allowed her breath to catch up, her heart to slow a little.

His heart was still hammering in his chest and Frank took deep breaths, trying to calm himself. The ache in his groin was making him wish he wasn’t such a ‘gentleman’ as Alice put it. But he knew that he had made the right decision. It had all gone too fast and he knew later Alice would be kicking herself had they gone through with it. Alice’s arms wrapped around him and he pulled her closer to his chest, panting kisses in her hair. A hand moved down and he pulled the scarlet and gold comforter over them. In his wildest dreams, Frank never thought he would actually have Alice in his bed next to him. And even thought they hadn’t had sex- always next time. Or the time after that.- Frank was happy to hold her in his arms.

His heart gave an uncomfortable lurch and Frank buried his face in Alice’s hair, trying to ignore the strange feeling. Frank knew what it felt like to love someone, but the love he felt for Cas, his best friend, was nothing like what Alice made him feel. Alice made his heart feel light and ache all at once. It was strange and it scared him. To feel that way about someone. To feel like if they weren’t in your life, you would suffocate…

Frank pulled away from Alice slightly, looking down at her before brushing a piece of hair back from her forehead. His knuckles brushed lightly down her cheek and he said in a soft voice, “Whatcha thinkin’, love?”

Franks arms pulled Alice close and she knew they’d made the right decision, and my god, it felt so, so perfect to be lying here, in her boyfriends bed, in her boyfriends arms.
